Tokugawa Shogunate gave all the ship wanted; thus, it released the hostages and left the harbor. Saga Domain was supposed to protect the harbor but failed. Tokugawa Shogunate punished Saga Domain severely; high officials of Saga Domain had to kill themselves to take responsibility. Awaken by the incident, Saga Domain started to learn Western technology. 新コロナウィルス感染拡大により、2020年度第1回英検は、一次試験は6月、二次は8月に変更されています。 いつもは一次試験の合格後に次の級を指導するのですが、今回2級を受験予定の生徒さんは、合格を待たずに準1級を指導することにしました。 ご本人が高校卒業までに準1級をとりたいと希望されており、多読は3万語以上の原書も「おもしろかった」というほど進んでいるからです。結果を待つより先へ進むことにしました。 2019年度第2回の長文問題 Lightning Strikes and Ships を指導したところ、particles, aerosol, vapor, frequency などの単語にとまどっていました。 まだ始めたばかりの準1級ですから、単語のむずかしさに焦って不安になるのは当たり前。 ただし熱心に多読をされているだけに、雲ができる過程や船の排気による大気汚染と嵐との関係など問題文の流れは追うことができました。 長文といっても多読にくらべれば短いもの。問題をこなしていけば慣れてくると思います。 ほかにも6月に英検を受験する生徒さんがおられます。休校やコロナの恐怖で落ち着いて学習できなかったでしょうが、すべての生徒さんが実力をだせますように。 今週後半から佐賀でも雨の日が続きそうです。そろそろ梅雨入りですね。今年は大きな災害がおきませんように。 読者のみなさまもお元気で！
