男子サッカーのワールドカップが、いよいよ来月6月14日からはじまります！ FIFAランキング60位の日本はグルーブH。 ポーランド（10位）、セネガル（28位）、コロンビア（16位）と予選を戦います。 男の子の生徒さんにもサッカーは人気。 ときどき指、肩、足首などにギブスや包帯をしてくるので、はらはらさせられます。 今回紹介する多読本は、読むとゴールが決められるかも?という一冊。 『How to Score the Goal』 Info Trail シリーズ　中～上級レベル　2487語 イギリスの子供向けの本なので、ページの半分くらいは写真や絵があり なじみのない用語も、それらを見れば一目瞭然。 たとえば、sweet spot ボールの真ん中のちょっと下のことで、そこを蹴るとボールをうまく操ることができる。 蹴るたびに sweet spot を見つけるのがコツ。 練習方法も紹介されています。 地面に直線を引きボールをその線にそって蹴る。慣れてきたら線を長くする。 まっすぐなボールを蹴るためです。 飲食についても説明されています。 油ものより新鮮な果物と野菜をとること。飲み物はがぶ飲みせず、すするように飲むと胃をいためにくい。 私はサッカーは観るだけですが、 読み進んでいくうちに「へぇ～」というトリビアが、ほかにもたくさんありました。 ゴールを決めてする、いわゆるガッツポーズはこの本では punching-the-air 日本選手の punching-the-air がたくさん見られる大会になるといいなぁ☆

The so-called Golden Week, a week packed with national holidays, was from Saturday April 28 to Sunday May 6 this year. Since May 1 and 2 were not national holidays, we had lessons as usual. The only difference was making rosettes for their parents in the elementary student lesson because the second Sunday in May is Mother's Day and the third one in June is Father's Day in Japan. I told the students how to make a rosette in English (of course! it's an English lesson) to show appreciation to their parents. You might think Japanese students are serious but they are just as unique as children in other countries. For example, one of my students asked  "Is this your father? " What she pointed to was a broom at the entrance. I totally lost my word. Obviously, she challenged my conventional way of thinking:) Unfortunately, the picture failed to show the cuteness but the students made kawaii  rosettes. Lessons between holidays could have been boring, then
