The so-called Golden Week, a week packed with national holidays, was from Saturday April 28 to Sunday May 6 this year. Since May 1 and 2 were not national holidays, we had lessons as usual.
The only difference was making rosettes for their parents in the elementary student lesson because the second Sunday in May is Mother's Day and the third one in June is Father's Day in Japan.
I told the students how to make a rosette in English (of course! it's an English lesson) to show appreciation to their parents.
You might think Japanese students are serious but they are just as unique as children in other countries.
For example, one of my students asked "Is this your father? " What she pointed to was a broom at the entrance.
I totally lost my word.
Obviously, she challenged my conventional way of thinking:)
Unfortunately, the picture failed to show the cuteness but the students made kawaii rosettes.
Lessons between holidays could have been boring, then making rosettes was something they could enjoy for a change.
Like my students, I also would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to their parents for their continuous corporation on my lessons.
I hope you all will enjoy both Mother's & Father's Days with your family!
