   How is the situation of COVID-19 in your area, dear readers? Finally, vaccination against the virus has started in Saga Prefecture, for medical workers from March 8 and elderly people living in facilities for the elderly from April 12. Further schedules vary depending on municipalities. In Saga City, vaccination for other people will start in May.  Currently, less than 1% of the Japanese population got vaccination. Personally, this means a red light for Tokyo Olympic Games but I heard a notice on radio saying reservation was required to observe a torch relay in Saga Prefecture scheduled to May 9 and 10.  Whatever the cost, it is proceeding. Although side effects are reported and vaccination is optional, it seems it is a possible solution to deal with the pandemic.  The picture shows a statue of Ebisu god to pray for an end of the pandemic. Locals put it in front of a post office in Saga City in January 2021.   I hope we all will survive the pandemic...

Happy New Year 2021!  I hope you had wonderful and relaxing new year holidays.  I went to Ise Shrine in Saga city to make wishes for the new year. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, things were bit different this year.  First, at the gate, a special path was made for visitors to walk through which filled with disinfectant spray. Second, at the washing area where visitors usually wash hands and a mouth before praying, a disinfectant spray bottle was set to sanitize hands. Lastly, all bells of the main building were moved up. This was to prevent visitors from touching ropes attached to the bells to ring. Thanks to the counter-virus measures, I was able to make the first visit to the shrine safely. The year 2021 is the year of the ox. Since vaccine comes from a Latin word vacca meaning an ox, I hope we will overcome the Covid-19 virus with newly developed vaccines.        Let's make the year 2021 a better and peaceful one!

もうすぐ七夕、Star Festival ですね。 教室では、生徒さんに願いを短冊に書いてもらいました。 折り紙を三つおりにして、パンチで穴をあけひもを通した短冊。重ね折りしたので、けっこうしっかりしてます。いろんな色で作ると楽しいです。 I hope, I wish, May, I want to の表現を使いました。 たとえば I hope I can play the piano much better. ピアノ上手になりたい～。私は弾けませんが。 I hope I will be accepted by Tokyo University.　 腐っても東大?!　受かりたい～！　accepted to もあり。 I hope I can lose weight.　 やせたい！←この例文、一緒に読んだあと生徒さんが小さく納得してショック(-_-;) I wish I could fly in the sky like a bird.　 wish + 文。（ぶっちゃけ）飛べるわけないから wish + could I wish for good grades on tests. wish for ＋モノ。祈☆好成績。 May happiness come to each one of us. 私たちひとりひとりに、幸せカモーン！ I want to have a pet dog. ある生徒さんは、pet cat がほしいそうです。 私だけでなくみなさまの今いちばんの願いといえばコレでしょう。 新型コロナウィルスの世界的大流行、いいかげん終わっておくれ～！ I hope the Covid-19 pandemic will end soon.
