What is your favorite Japanese "anime" piece?
If you don't know, we have Anime Day in Japan on October 22 to commemorate the release of Hakujaden (白蛇伝) , the first color animated film made in Japan, on October 22, 1958.
My all-time favorite is the first series of Guandam (機動戦士ガンダム) .
Because its great characters in a realistic situation, well depicted human drama and excellent mechanic design make the Guadam work outstanding.
The story began when humans had moved to space due to overpopulation. They built artificial space colonies where humans were able to live for generations.
Descendants of the space immigrants rose for independence from the earth, which led to a war against the earth federation.
Amuro, one of the main characters who happened to be a Gundam pilot, grew up as a man and a soldier through incessant battles in the war. I remember boys were so fascinated by the mobile suit robots such as Gundam, Zaku, Gufu during the show was released.
It has been attracting a wide range of audience not only in Japan but also in other countries. Many sequels were produced accordingly.
Whatever you like, anime works will continue to live with viewers, even grown-ups including me:)
